Audrey

At one month of age, Audrey began to fuss at the bottle. Rejecting it. I had noticed her face had become inflamed and rough with baby acne. (Alligator skin) After about 2 weeks Audrey was screaming at the bottles and rejecting them so much that we had given up, around the same time I gave up milk as I was wondering about a Lactose intolerance? She was becoming extremely gassy and burping and passing gas a lot. And was vomiting at every feed. She

Linda Cozi's Mum

Cozi's story

Cozi was first diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome Minimal Change (NSMC) 5/03/09. She had oedema and had suffered headaches and was really thirsty. It was discovered that she had a bladder infection at that time so I suspect her NSMC was acquired rather than genetic.

She was hospitalised for 5 days and placed on large doses of steroid Prednisolone. Lucky she was skinny to start with as her appetite increased dramatically. Side Effects she suffered included moon face, increased appetite and mood c… Continue

Out and About With CKSN

The CKSN Team has been having a great time visiting the Children's Renal Clinics at the Royal Children's Hospital over the past months. It has been such a pleasure to meet with parents and their children and chatting about the services we offer.

Every second Friday we set up our table at the Royal Children's and hand out our information and give small gifts to the children. Not only do the kids love the funky pens and glow wands, but the 'older kids' also can't resist them!

A very big thank you to Jo Jones and the wonderful staff at the clinic who always make us fell very welcome. Look out Mater Children's - we're coming your way soon!

Kidney Kids Create Cupcakes!
Cupcakes…tubs of icing…sprinkles…100s and 1000s…balloons - it could only mean one thing - the launch of the Childhood Kidney Support Network!

Fun was had by all at the Mater Children’s Hospital when CKSN conducted their Kidney Kids Create Cupcakes Day. Kidney kids, their parents, nurses, doctors and medical staff enjoyed a great day decorating (and eating!) cupcakes. Whilst the children were very busy spreading icing on cakes, the CKSN team was spreading the word about the network and its services.

A very big thank you to CKSN mums, Simone and Vicki, their families and friends who donated a laptop to the hospital for the use of kidney kids and their parents during their stays in hospital.

Halloween at the Royal Children's Hospital

The CKSN Team had a fantastic time at our Morning Tea at the Royal Children's Hospital on Friday, 30 October. We all enjoyed coffee, biscuits and the very popular Halloween 'Body Parts' Lollies - a huge hit with the kids!!

It was wonderful to meet all the parents and children and thank you for signing up to join CKSN. Keep an eye out for our eNewsletters, invitations to our Parent Support Group Meetings and alerts.
